Roots Abroad – Stories of Women

Omatila
16.11.2018−20.1.2019

The exhibition is executed with a group from the Turku based association Daisy Ladies. It familiarizes us with women whose roots are abroad but home in Finland. Art and objects visualize their stories. Topics unite us regardless of cultural background: family and close relationships, the role of women in culture and society, questions of identity and the relations with humans and their environment.

Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova has been a part of the national Museum as sanctuary project during 2016–2018. Within the project the museum has been visited by multiple groups of immigrants and asylum seekers exploring art and history and vice versa acquainting the museum with their own culture.
