The Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova Museum offers an Artist in Residence program in Turku, Finland. The museum focuses on the cultural heritage of medieval Finland as well as that of contemporary art.
The artist is provided a working space free of charge. The period of residence can vary from three to eight months according to the residence application.
The working space is 35 m² (view the floor plan) and is located approx. 3 km from the centre of Turku in a building completed in 2010. The artist pays for working materials, maintenance and travel expenses. The studio/working space is not suitable for metal sculpting or development of analog photography.
Each year upon invitation one artist in residence is offered an opportunity to exhibit works in the museum's Takkahuone Gallery (26m²). The duration of the exhibition is 1 to 3 months.
For the duration of the program, it is possible to rent an apartment in the same building where the studio/working space is located.
