Children’s birthday parties

At Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova, it is possible to organise memorable children's birthday parties on the principle that parents need do nothing other than bring along their kids to the adventure.

Programme

Birthday parties consist of two parts: a one-hour adventure tour and a ½-hour party. On the adventure tour, the children hunt for clues under the leadership of a guide, carry out tasks and find out about the world of the Middle Ages through exciting stories. At the end, all the little adventurers are rewarded with the gift of a lucky tin coin, which they make themselves in the museum's own coin workshop.

For older children (8 and above), instead of an adventure tour, it is also possible to choose a workshop party, where the children can busy themselves for ½-hour in a workshop, and then take a guided tour of the museum (also ½-hour). Choices of workshop include making a glass painting, bookmark of leather or pearl jewellery.

Catering selection and prices

The price of a party depends on the number of children and the content of the catering. We have three ready-made alternatives:

Alternative 1: doughnuts, lemonade/juice, potato crisps and biscuits. For a minimum of 10 children, this package costs €116 (+€11.60 for each additional child).

Alternative 2: hot-dogs, ice cream, lemonade/juice and potato crisps. For a minimum of 10 children, this package costs €130 (+€13.00 for each additional child).

Alternative 3: figure cake, lemonade/juice, potato crisps and biscuits. Cake alternatives are: flower-, princess-, lizard- or autofigure; cake is big enough for 10 - 15 children and it must be ordered not later than four weekdays before parties. For a minimum of 10 children, this package costs €140 (+€14.00 for each additional child).

On Sundays and other holidays, there is an additional charge of €10.

These parties are suitable for children from ages 4 to 12, and the recommended maximum number of participants is 15. Our guide will meet the children in the lobby and spend the entire duration of the party with them. Either Finnish-, Swedish or English-speaking guides are available.

It is possible to organise birthday parties those days museum is open between 11.00 am and 6.45 pm (so the latest possible starting time is 5.15 pm, and in such cases, the party section comes first. At other times, the arrangement can be more flexible).
