Locations

12.9.-2.11.2008

Locations presents two painters, Brussels-based Yves Zurstrassen (b. 1956, Verviers, Belgium) and Mari Rantanen (b. 1956, Helsinki), who has, via New York, found a home in Stockholm.

The work of both artists leans on the tradition of abstract painting, making colour and form central while other levels are subordinate to them. Thus the first and foremost theme in this exhibition is colour and the strength it holds.

Both artists use the language of pure painting in their art, a language that is considered to be universal. Bringing two artists together also shows personal accents. The universality of painting is spiced with their individual ways of seeing the world and using their media. Locations tells about painting in two languages: Belgian French and expatriate Finnish.
